ACE Refrigeration recently installed a new screw compressor pack for William Sword Bakery as they required R22 Replacement for their Spiral Freezer.

As well as replacing the evaporator coil, ACE Refrigeration installed a pack consisting of three compressors offering increased reliability and efficiency – screw compressor packs allow for output to meet demand when applications with varying loads are required.

R22 Replacement is required by 31st December 2014 and with new F-gas regulations being introduced, initial replacement R404A is also now looking at being phased out rapidly.  RS-50  is a low global warming and higher efficiency replacement for R22 in medium and low temperature refrigeration applications as well as R404A in both new & existing equipment.

Designed to minimise product weight loss and maximise production, spiral freezers offer the ability for continual conveyor freezing and gentle handling of products during the freezing process. The application of spiral freezers is especially good for areas with limited floor space. Spiral freezers are most commonly used in the fish and seafood industry, bakeries and by manufacturers of frozen prepared foods.

William Sword Ltd has been baking delicious produce for more than a hundred years. Best known for its sweet pastry products and popular pies, the Cumbernauld-based bakery is still owned and managed by the Sword family to this day, having grown from its origins as a small local bakery in the Lanarkshire town of Airdrie to become a modern food manufacturer.

ACE Refrigeration is an associate member of Scottish Bakers and clients in the bakery and confectionery business also include McGhees Family Bakers, Fergusons Bakery In Kilmarnock, Cobbs Bakery, Highland Chocolatier, McVities Biscuits, Fords Bakers in Edinburgh and BFP Wholesale.
